Does it matter who or what creates music if it elicits a positive emotional response? Why or why not?

For people that can separate the music from the person and can still listen to R. Kelly or Chris Brown, etc., could you listen to Jeffrey Dahmer's greatest hits if he was secretly an amazing musician? There must be some place where you draw the line.

I'm genuinely curious also. My personal bias is that it's impossible to completely separate artist and art, but I know that's not how everyone feels. It's also difficult to define what's ok/not ok. I was looking for people who can 100% separate. Maybe it's just not important to them at all.
