Does it matter who or what creates music if it elicits a positive emotional response? Why or why not?

I think it does matter to a certain extent. The person(s) creating the music are part of the whole story. If a song was 100% generated by AI with little to no human input, I’d still enjoy the music if it was good but part of the story would be missing in a way.

What do you mean by "the story"?

Every song is a story, it has meaning. Something usually sparks or inspires an artist to write a song. How the song was made is also part of the story. Where it was recorded, who the collaborators are, the artwork etc.

Can you think of an example where knowing nothing of the story didn't matter and you just loved the song or album?

This happens all the time when I discover an artist I didn’t know about, but if I like the song, my first action is to learn more about the artist. I’m never just listening to music without care for who the creator is.

I’m just me, but if that’s a compliment then I’ll take it. When was the last time you discovered music that you liked but didn’t care about who made it?

It is absolutely a compliment! The story is interesting (or not) in some cases. I would say it can enhance my enjoyment of a piece of music (or art for that matter), but if something moves me emotionally when I hear it, that's what matters to me.

So, to answer your question more directly, I discover music all the time, maybe even every day, that I love and just listen to. Sometimes if I come back around to something or spend more time with a song, album or artist, I'll take some time to learn more about them.
