This is a stimulating read, but I see two things a bit differently on why web3 social has not yet taken off with the masses: 1) Web3 builders might be thinking more about their in-group status (among cool techies) than what end-users do with their product. Web3 builders are prone to status games as much as their target end-users, which ironically might be making them less user-centric. 2) Imo, the main benefit of decentralization is for other builders and serious content creators (as few end-users actually care about decentralization). The likely scenario is decentralized social media attracting users due to better UX thanks to composability.
