Controversial opinion but farcaster protocol will eventually need a token:
1) As a stake for hub operators (to prevent sybil attack)
2) To incentivize data storage (ensure there is a client-agnostic protocol infra)
3) To manage the lease of channel names and such.

That is *if* farcaster becomes large and decentralized. I appreciate the app-first approach of the team but hope that things will gradually decentralize. Otherwise, there is no need to bother.

Still think this way: FC hubs need some incentive to provide client-agnostic infra. Also there should be a way for MM to make money in case warpcast gets outcompeted. 

Otherwise they are in a very tricky spot (trying to maintain dominance at all costs, to the detriment of decentralization).
