And now it's quite valuable to me. And in terms of what might happen in the future, I think that people are starting to realize there's very little upside to volunteering information about your personal life on the internet.

I wish I could say I had the foresight to premeditate the decision, but to be honest it was because I worked at a job where I was not necessarily comfortable saying whatever I wanted, whether it was silly or provocative, in an online forum, and Bored gave me the outlet to basically have creative freedom.

Good point. In our digital world we must cater to all kinds of identities. 

Anon is not for everyone, but must be protected.

I sort of wish I had a cool other identity. Def jealous

I've always used different identities in different communities. It feels natural like slipping on a costume that lets you express different aspects of yourself.  It's not fake, in many ways the alternate versions of me are more real than the meatspace version.
