Started reading The Creative Act and love it so far. It's a perfect complement to The War Of Art, which frames creativity as a daily battle to prepare for. Develop grit, sharpen your blade, etc. Whereas Rubin approaches from the transcendental, spiritual angle.

I got a quarter of the war of art and felt weird about it. I was expecting a profound think piece but kinda got hung up on the author’s choices of analogy and general patriarchal tone. It felt like for every good analogy there were 2 weird ones.

Have you read Rubin’s book? Very different tone. I like both but can see how they can be alienating to different people.
