This song is from Kuchelavritham, written in a more Sanskritized version of Malayalam, in the context of Sudama’s visit to lord Krishna’s palace. 

Favourite line, Sudama addressing lord Krishna:
Neela neerada varna, mridula kamala ruchira nayana, nrihare 

Neela neerada varna: the one with the complexion of dark/ blue rain clouds 
Mridula: soft
Kamala: lotus
ruchira: brilliant
Nayana: eyes 

The one with eyes as soft and brilliant as lotus petals 

Nrihare: reference to the Narasimha avatar of lord Vishnu

Holika Dahan celebrated the night before Holi day - burning of Prahlada’s (the same guy from Narasimha story) aunt Holika. The story is that Holika had a boon from the gods that she wouldn’t die from fire. So she took young Prahlada on her lap and sat on the burning pyre. Prahlada escaped but she died in the fire.

I don’t know if it’s region specific to be honest. Kuchelavritham (means the story of Kuchela) is an example of Aattakadha, essentially a Kathakali story play of sorts.

First time hearing about Kuchelavritham. Is it region specific in Kerala?
