Very cool to see the European Data Protection Board publishing guidelines on the use of the blockchain to process personal data … 🧵

It’s great that the EDPB is ushering in new technologies like blockchain through new guidelines and regulations – this is the only effective way to ensure the safe use of such new tech. So it’s exciting to see them be so proactive

We’ve often seen the EU act very slowly to publish guidelines and regulations about new technologies, letting the dangerous aspects of them run free for longer, while then missing the next big thing when they finally do establish regulations

The use of blockchain technology in processing and storing personal data can be fantastic. It can provide far better protection than many other methods, but it does come with its risks

This is why it’s so important that the EDPB is getting to work on this. It’s one thing for us in this crypto/blockchain bubble to use it for our own good, but in order for effective decentralisation and widespread adoption, we need large institutions like this to get involved
