Trying to get a read on the Trump tariffs – what is the play? I don’t believe he is stupid enough/would be let do this without some nefarious ulterior motive. Any ideas?

Dont discount stupidity but yes there must be another reason as well. Fake news for his base? He thinks this will honestly help them ( i doubt it though)

It’s not so much discounting stupidity – the guy is undoubtedly an idiot. But yeah just feels like there must be something about it that bandits Trump and his buddies. Because it’s not even going to force people to buy American.

There must be a roundabout benefit for his big business domestic donors. It may sound good to his base on paper. I heard this may be a way for force interest rates down which is good for stocks / crypto. There could be a few reasons not just one.
