(1/2) Hey guys! I have an update on Lil Grey😸🐾 Today we saw the orthopedic specialist that the kidney doctor recommended. The vet said it’s best NOT to do surgery. The fracture is over a month old so fixing it now would be much harder, they’d have to break or cut the bone a bit to realign it and his leg would end up shorter. But there’s more: the x-rays 🩻 showed that his bones look very transparent which suggests he has osteoporosis caused by his kidney disease😿 That makes the surgery even riskier, with no guarantee it would work. Considering his age and kidney issues, the vet thinks it’s best to leave the leg as it is. Especially since Lil Grey is managing just fine right now. He’s independent, moves around and with time, the pain should go away🙏🏻 In fact, the vet said he doesn’t seem to feel much in that area anymore. So for now, we’ll just keep up with his kidney treatment and focus on giving him the best quality of life possible 🙏🏻🫶🏻🐾

(2/2) Personally I think it makes sense not to operate. Lil Grey is in good spirits 🙏🏻 he eats well, uses the litter box and just seems happy😸🫶🏻 A surgery could be really hard on him and might make things worse. I’m honestly amazed by how strong he is and how quickly he adapted🥺🥺❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹 Even though he drags himself around, he still tries to run when he sees me bringing food. It’s just incredible! 🫶🏻

Surgery is always a risk, you know what’s best. We need to get him one of those wheeled contraptions which attaches around the waste, prosthetic wheels 🛞🦿

Exactly, actually he has one, it was a gift from the vet, but it doesn't work for him 🥺

What was it about the prosthetic that didn’t work? @plantsnft this should be a community goal to get grey back on his wheels!

I spoke to a vet and they explained why it might not work for him, his body needs to be able to support the wheelchair. Something we can think about later on. 🐈⬛

Thank you for asking 🐾🫶🏻 Yeah, actually he's still moving his leg above the wheelchair, which is why he can't use it correctly, he falls down immediately 😅 but I can try thinking how make it work for him. 33 $Degen
