in mexico city for a friendmergency and itβs crazy to me how the street vendors only accept cash anybody know why? in venice beach + the US, they accept venmo or cashapp in rio + sΓ£o paolo, EVERYBODY uses Pix β from street vendors to big brands big opp for blockchain-based P2P payments bc no web2 competition

welcome to the underbanked. id rather see them adopt crypto than banks (banks wont serve a street business etc) lot of unofficial economy

a really cool product would be for @coinbase and @coinbasewallet new mobile users to be able to off-ramp a direct pickup in cash at OXXO or 7/11, similarly to how it's already integrated in other ways with traditional banking and e-commerce, but crypto. this could disrupt consumer baking here

/stripe has oxxo onramp/offramp and crypto support, could be doable, would be an interesting product for sure. to help people to use self-custodial but with offramps.

critical for this to work, agreed. i don't believe theres a MXN stable. I read something a few months ago about a national CBDC / digital peso, but have heard nothing more
