Fair enough... I'm a medical anthropologist as well so I know orthotics and yes, I've worn orthotics, most of my shoes have orthotics. Based on what you're saying it's definitely overkill. I'm getting looked at for a knee brace soon, but even though your solution is overkill for me the current solutions are underperforming from my viewpoint. Guess I'm just mildly screwed until the science on ligament repair is further along 🤦🏻‍♀️ That or I'll need to take up swimming 🏊🏻‍♀️ Thanks for responding though ☺️

I used to be a dancer/fencer/judoka but am slightly disabled due to the combo of mild scoliosis & an injured right knee + mildly worn ligaments. If I'm a good test case would love to Beta it 🙂

One of my startup ideas does evolve from my fieldwork, but in an "oh shit I could monetize this and make money whilst helping parents & teachers" way not in a studying other techies & creatives to understand others I'm not even competing with because they have very different products way 😂

Interesting viewpoint ... I see it the other way around as some Founders are just money/marketing types with enough vision to bet on the right thing + hire capable people under them (Jobs etc.), others are artsy creative types who sort of bricoleur their way into founding something (Artistics or Creatives ?), others purposely build a thing to either solve a problem or because they want that thing to exist for themselves (Builders). There's also people who fit under more than one category or are combos, rarer all three. I'm sure there are other categories & subtypes but this seems more like a question for Dr. Mary L Gray. We're friendly aquantances, but that's not my area of anthropology although I'm also a Coder & Creative those lives of mine are quite separate from my Anthropology & charitable life. If there's a term for the first type beyond just calling them Founders I don't know it but there has to be somewhere in the social sciences.

Oh and here's the kicker, the medicine & other preventative supplies were already paid for (by our taxes) & at the port ... But because DOGE recalled the USAID personnel nobody could get at it to distribute it. By the time a new person from the State Department was trained on how to move them & allowed in like over a week later, several things were spoiled, and many women had their babies so too late for those kids who now have HIV through no fault of their own. Conservative estimates have it at, at least 300 kids in his Native ZA (my tertiary country by marriage) alone. Do I feel let down as well as an American (ancestors all the way back to The Anne) with familial ties to ZA and a former OG Tesla stockholder who's husband had model after model of his cars ... Yes. I'll be fine though, at least financially. But these children are stuck with a chronic illness they didn't need to be all because of his anti-empathy crusade. I'd use stronger words, but this ain't Tumblr or Bsky.

Wow you've really drunk the kool aid. Hopefully someday you leave your cult like I did. Elon has literally put a charity I've volunteered thousands of hours of my time helping children with HIV on the brink of disaster with his gutting of USAID. He doesn't care about humanity, only the appearance of it. Only Americans who are generally white with $$$$. At the clinic I volunteered with dozens of mothers missed the window to take medicines to prevent passing HIV to their children who could've had normal lives but now won't, and it's only one of thousands of groups around the world USAID was helping. It would be one thing if he was giving his own billions away to compensate in the meanwhile with a "here's something to keep you going for the next few years but this is the end" so they'd have time to figure out other funding sources but he's not. He's a selfish prat who wouldn't even give to his alma mater without being asked. Seriously fuck that arsehole.
