this may not be the most popular opinion right now in light of the plan for next $degen season, but man I hate staking in general i just don't know what problem it solves other than artificially locking up supply temporarily my father hated staking my grandfather hated staking i come from a long line of people who hate staking

Thank you. I feel like the angry old man shouting at the cloud. But that's kinda my fault for expressing it poorly. All staking does is delay the inevitable. Eventually they unlock. And several times a year you need to deal with the "big unlock coming" drama. It's a band-aid. And it'll scare new participants away, rightfully so.

I mean, I guess you agree that staking ETH has a usecase, right, to secure the network. Here the usecase is to make the tipping game more sustainable. It directly impacts how long it could theoretically run for by lowering supply, and basically rewarding people who “prove” they’re here for the “long run”. It’s definitely a trade-off, but I think it’s a legitimate one. Maybe I’m missing something lol.

Agreed. I've been in crypto for 10+ years and locking up (especially 1 yr or more) has almost always been a bad sign. If the only reward is tip allocation, how does that not encourage the exact behaviors we're trying to reduce? I would need at least 10x reward to lock a large amount for more than a few months.

I don’t get how there is any downside other than smart contract risk? 1. Lowers circulating (better than not) 2. Gives farmers something to do other than dump (we still have multiple waves of unlocks) 3. Enables liquid staking / lending 4. Introduces core DeFi concepts to noobs What’s the downside tho? Genuinely wondering
