Actual chances aside and hypothetically: how does society respond in the first 1-3 months of confirmed aliens? Feels like there would be a large existential crisis to some extent.

Half of society wouldn’t believe they are real; spread misinformation to not look up on foxnews; then would shift their vitriol from migrants and illegal aliens to actual aliens; war ensues; aliens drop a simple virus easily thwarted by wearing a mask to strategically annihilate that half of the human race; win/win.
