i recently switched from reading books just to learn about or improve at something, to reading books to simply experience the chapters, and itā€™s ironically changed my life in a way thatā€™s hard to put into words.

Say more? I'm strongly rooted in the first camp. There's something alluring about the idea of the second

The brain works best when it can create neural links/pathways between concepts, and so exposing yourself to books that can give more ā€˜surprisesā€™ is powerful. Self improvement and learning books are important but have preconceived outcomes from the reader, itā€™s nice to also be surprised once in a while and exposed to new things ā€” you never know how it can help you.
