Curious how the community delineates Farcaster from being an X replacement versus being an augmented social media that connects people deeper than the town halls of X ever can. As such, perhaps farcaster does not need to migrate people from X, as these things can co exist and it’s probably better for FC to be differentiated anyway. ( I believe @dwr.eth has said this before too). As a medium level user, hoping to be more active, here is what I would like to think of it as: X is the theatre, it’s the hustle & bustle of news. Farcaster is the home, it’s where we come to process the news If Farcaster can achieve the latter, it will be the reason crypto succeeds because we need more intimate spaces to share ideas, visions, code to offset this industry from resorting to sensationalism and hyper fixating on the people who have already been successful versus the smaller builders who will carry the torch for the next let.

i see farcaster as a social network + content layer that can be integrated into any app or website it can be used to preload experiences with personalized content or just act as an identity layer w preloaded connections it's more like Google in that regard than X.. tho most apps haven't moved away from feeds

I kinda think of the same way but to me, what sets fc apart from x is that you dont need to understand crypto to join fc, but if you do, you are given the right tools to thrive and succeed

I agree , fc is the home where we can build deeper and more intimate connections and will complement x, not replacing. And fc is also imo much more than that, offering amazing web3 features allowing to bring to next level both social and business relationships, while the actual use is still far under the potential as the community is made of technical experts, devs & web3 builders... we need more entertainment, content creatives /influencers / gamers that could unleash the potential of frames from functional pov vs technical, more companies and brands enabling new ways to monetize and web3 commerce ...

I think Farcaster still need to attract as more many quality web3 users as possible, and X has a good user base for that purpose. Wen more good users come(content creators, devs, kol…) and create content, interact with each other, it will create stronger community and attract even more quality users, it’s an improving loop.

I barely used X, so I weirdly have no basis for comparison. But at the moment, the primary difference I see is that the community is still small and populated by people who _want_ to be here. So the discussion is a little different. It's also way more focused on crypto, despite being billed as a general social platform.

I feel that way too, but I hope that we will also be able to keep this atmosphere after a while. I wish farcaster success with all my heart, but usually with a big audience comes a lot of noise. Although there are a lot of good things and innovations

Idk quite how to parse it. To me FC feels like CT without the toxicity Lens feels like its own thing, completely removed from CT and focused on art and music and shit like that (plus a lot of AI art airdrop farmers ofc) CT is definitely cooked though. Cesspool. I like the vibes much more here.
