The four original members of the Ethereum team were Vitalik Buterin, Mihai Alisie, Anthony Di Iorio and Charles Hoskinson[14]. Formal development of the Ethereum software project began in early 2014 through a Swiss company named Ethereum Switzerland GmbH (EthSuisse). After that, a non-profit organization in Switzerland called Ethereum Foundation was also established. Development of Ethereum was funded by the online crowd throughout July and August 2014, with participants purchasing Ethereum with other digital currencies such as bitcoin[4].
