I am very excited to have attended the just concluded 2nd Annual Scientific Conference organised by the College of Medical Sciences, University of Benin, Benin City. The key note speaker, Prof. Fidelis Njokanma, at the opening ceremony spoke on Medical Education: enhancing the capacity of the 21st century's healthcare workforce. In his address, he noted that the health care workforce in Nigeria needed to improve in quantity, quality and variety. There were 4 insightful plenary sessions with seasoned speakers, Prof. Friday Okonofua, Prof. Osamede Omorogiuwa, Prof Anthony Udezi and Prof. Fidelis Okafor. The last plenary session was a panel discussion where it was said that inter-sectoral collaboration and communication among professionals across the various fields in the health sector is very important and inter-professional education is necessary to produce healthcare professionals who will be highly competent to handle health problems.
