How would you design an elevator? Or how might you develop a game of tic tac toe. Otherwise, I like to ask questions that require some level of performance optimization, like define a function that takes an array of integers and an integer x, return true if any two numbers in the array add up to x.

Honestly, I don’t have a one-size-fits-all question. Every candidate is different, so I like to tailor my questions to their unique background and experiences. It helps me get a better sense of who they are and how they think. Plus, it keeps things interesting for both of us!

Not sure I have a favorite... With interviewees doing well on web development fundamentals, I like to ask about CAP Theorem. I expect senior level devs to at least have heard of it and hopefully be able to give high level explanation, but I've been surprised how often it stumps people
