The wallet could have been generated a second ago. Doesn't need to have anything in it. I believe the UI says it's a spam-reduction technique. If you're trying to find the next crypto-twitter, the various minor hoops rather seem to be signposts you're headed the right direction (except that it was originally iOS-only)
