It’s very easy to find agreement with someone we like, saying things we agree with, but that’s not interesting. I listen because I want to know what people I’m not aligned with think, that people I agree with wouldn’t or don’t say. 

I often find things I agree with them on that I wouldn’t expect. It doesn’t change the fact that I might also viscerally dislike things that they say or do.
