I’ve often marveled at the late 90’s trend of frenetic nonsense word association vomit lyrics that were all the rage. It’s not a jab, actually really funny. Listen to Savage Garden, Harvey Danger, Barenaked Ladies and you’ll see what I mean. None of the songs make any sense

But I mean this lyrical nonsense theme was really front and center for a while there. Not the first, not the last, of course. Phoenix, for example, makes absolutely no sense in their lyrics. Like infuriatingly so.
