Apple has a chance to make ar/vr mainstream though. Guessing it will need to be a future cheaper headset that does it though.

apple does nothing "mainstream" the only market where apple has penetrated enough of a share is usa (or 4% of global population)

It will happen, as it does with every market he puts his fingers in, he mimics the “best” features and functions of all the competitors. They introduced levels of effort and features and functions he never achieved: ergo he will mimic.
