I was breathing in through my mouth while taking a bite for some dumb reason and that combined with the exorbitant amounts of crushed red pepper flakes I enthusiastically deployed(some flakes stacked loosely on top of others) allowed for some to take flight through the vacuum of air I started by breathing in..

Once particulates of pepper flakes triggered my cough reflex I think that actually flicked one or more flakes up into my sinuses as they were mid air in my mouth or throat when the cough initiated..

This as you can imagine resulted in much more coughing and something similar to this gif
