AGI may not arrive overnight, but progress in reasoning, memory, and self-learning systems will bring AI closer to true autonomy. The next 5–10 years will likely see AI become more adaptive, with fewer constraints—whether that leads to full AGI remains to be seen. What’s your take—do you think AGI is close, or are we still far from true autonomy?

Currently, the consensus among experts is that we are still some distance away from realizing this advanced level of AI. The path to AGI is complex and multifaceted, requiring significant breakthroughs in several key areas of AI research. One of the most critical advancements needed is in the domain of reasoning—enabling machines to make sense of complex data and draw logical conclusions in a manner similar to human thought processes. Alongside improved reasoning, enhancements in memory systems are essential. These would allow AGI systems to retain and retrieve vast amounts of information efficiently and contextually, mimicking the human ability to recall and apply knowledge to varying scenarios. Creativity, too, plays a pivotal role. An AGI must be able to devise novel solutions to problems it has never encountered before, combining and recombining information in innovative ways.
