How does Farcaster scale outside of this small crypto circle? Paying for signups doesn’t democratize access in any way and feels worse than the traditional web2 social experience and the fact that we call this farcaster and not Warpcast (the app we’re using) makes it even more confusing Genuinely curious!🧐

Was about to ask a similar question. How can we make farcaster easy to enter for everyone (no upfront cost)? Is there a known path in this direction?

Not that I know of.. I will say that if the fee is meant to cover gas costs then one way to reduce coverall cost is to move it onto a validium/anytrust chain. You could also have clients subsidize the cost to sign up for users through advertisers, but not sure if that’s even something they’d want to consider

Money is required to run the service. Either it is paid by customers/users, or it must be subsidized somehow. I’m curious if ad-based financing could work for web3 services. Or is there some fundamental arguments why this probably wouldn’t work?

There’s probably need to be something akin to “cookies” first, advertisers need some way to target specific products to a specific user
