As he approaches retirement, Biden is truly willing to take on anything. Following the U.S. are two staunch allies—Japan and the UK—both of which have directly announced synchronized sanctions, expanding restrictions on Russian individuals, legal entities, and financial institutions. The UK also specifically pointed out that these sanctions mainly target Russia's energy giants, including Gazprom and Surgutneftegas.
