Historians believe the wheel was invented in ancient Mesopotamia in 4000-4200 BC, but it took us until the 70’s to put wheels on suitcases. Sometimes obvious innovations aren’t immediate and you have to return to basics to make things better. That’s what coldlink is for blockchain. Seen a bit of conversation about this recently and I have an essay in my brain about the parallels between the Dada art movement and current internet/meme culture (and by extension nft/web3 culture). The Dada art movement was a rejection of traditional artistic values and embraced nonsense, silliness and spontaneity as a response to the trauma of World War I. Influenced a lot of contemporary art movements. A similarity can be seen in the recent sociopolitical events globally - pandemics, war, political instability - and in response the shared nonsensical irreverence of memes, especially embraced by Gen Z. By extension you can see this reflect in fashion too - where the pendulum swings one way and shit gets real, culture has a way of bringing balance. You can see escapism and surrealism in fashion all over the place now. People are using their clothes and expression as an escape from the reality of the world. Everything repeats.

A masterclass in how to have absolutely zero understanding of your message, ethos, audience or purpose. The crypto community seems to have largely united against the absolutely horrific (now deleted) ad Solana released today - that felt like a string of stereotypical, hateful jargon generated from an AI’s distillation of the more far right anti-trans political views recently spewed across the timeline and media. This felt like a desperate pandering to a group of people willing to accept the idea that technological advancement relies on a gender binary and an exclusion of anyone who falls outside of that. Reminder: Lynn Conway is an American computer scientist, electrical engineer, inventor and transgender activist. In the 1960's she was responsible for the invention of complex microchip systems that lead to the creation of the first supercomputers. Gender expression has nothing to do with our ability to create technologies, and crypto SHOULD be for everyone.

Resources and money left the industry when markets tanked during the bear - leading many companies to abandon their web3 efforts, roll back their developments and lay off their web3 teams. This has left a lot of infrastructure largely unused, thousands of community members left unengaged, and growth potential cut off. This is where things can change. With what we’re releasing, many of the hurdles that prevented teams of all sizes from integrating this technology and acknowledging/integrating digital asset ownership into their ecosystems are solved or completely avoided. Stay tuned.
