i agree with this, today most channels feel more like tags than communities what's missing is a sense of "membership" and that membership having meaning i don't feel like moxie is the entire answer but i think it can be a nice lego towards some interesting solutions, especially if you have to pay cast in a channel and share the rewards when all channel casts earn moxie - channels you have to pay to cast in, not a paid fan at a certain level than you can only read - instant ban if you paid and cast nonsense - skin in the game: your paying gets you access to participate in rewards earned by the channel and fans-only features made avail it's a start

i don’t think the issue is ‘sense of membership’ and even if it was making people pay to post is not the way to give membership in a community meaning. these internet communities are people that bond over a shared interest, have low to medium level of tension within the group and high level of tension/opposition with at least one thing outside of the group.

Sure but those models are already served well by offchain Facebook groups and subreddits and such. I think there’s an opportunity to do new, better, different onchain in a compelling way that creates new value models. No one needs another Facebook group on farcaster - Facebook is handling that just fine already
