🌶️ 🌶️ Warpcast and Jam now offer 2 alternative yet compelling Farcaster user experiences - Wc is better suited for longtime users and members of clubs like Purple, attendees of Farcon - Jam is better suited for new users, with better/more discovery and search @v @dwr.eth would be great... longcast.jam.so/jjmnto

also, for anyone put off by this being a flame cast, imo Farcaster needs more of this, not less more debate more viewpoints more challenging the team

Our top priority is 100% permissionless protocol and we pushing to get there as soon as possible. At that point, new users can start with Jam or any app. Agree we can improve the farcaster.xyz homepage to be more about discovery.

another fc pain point that jam could alleviate is managing the seed phrase (via MPC + custodial backup?) for users bsky/non-crypto people hate this!! @betashop.eth any plans here?

I kinda disagree with the amount of effort you think merkle should put into promotion. I would bet every active FC user knows about jam, and most either use it or have used it before; compare that to bluesky, where the entire user base is on one app and the the co vaguely says “there are other apps!”

I see. I’d think just doing sign in with warpcast again would be preferable to adding a separate apple/google account

warpcast has still been my default client but im super excited to see searchable casts and fyp in jam! totally agree that there isn’t true parity/fair fight until jam has access to permission-less signups

Some good points here but mostly disagree with the notion that fc hasn’t done enough for its apps or is substantially prioritizing wc over 3rd party apps. Found them to be supportive, communicative, and open to a degree that rivals some of the other protocols we integrate @yup Can always do more though!

This is a complicated topic: should protocols also build clients? There is no right answer but my guess would be that the best way to gather the best community of builders is to only do the protocol, and maybe build a demo client.
