The multiplication of personalities, as seen in conditions like DID, helps compartmentalize trauma for survival but can disrupt identity and memory continuity. While it protects against overwhelming distress, it often isolates emotions and fragments the self. Therapy aims to integrate these parts by addressing root trauma and fostering cooperation among identities. However, without proper intervention, this protective mechanism can perpetuate emotional disconnection, making healing a complex and delicate process.

it can be said that all of these things are rooted in people having multiple personalities . Many people have multiple personalities but they dont have any specific illness and they just try to be themselves when they are with the right person

I think what you mean here is the different characters, the different selves that we express in different situations or with different people. However, what I mean by having different personalities is that it's as if the individual doesn't have a completely unified whole, and each of these personalities has its own identity, traits, interests, and even distinct memories. This can lead to the individual experiencing difficulties in life.
