1000 years ago people learned to use fire. The first person to do this was probably burned by his fellow tribesmen at the stake, which he learned to make himself. He was probably mistaken for a villain who dealt with spirits that people feared. But then people mastered fire, it warmed them, they cooked food on it, it illuminated their caves...
