Beyond the Stripe payments announcement this week, it might be less known that they already support fiat on-ramp (eg buy ETH with credit card on Metamask via Stripe).

This is even more powerful with Stripe Link (https://stripe.com/payments/link) which pre-fills payment info for those already in the Link network.

Stripe leaning into crypto is good to see, but their on-ramp isn't great. High fees, over-tuned risk controls, and their bank linking product is still far behind Plaid.

Doing on-ramping well is all about doing risk well. Stripe's core products don't involve them handling risk directly and crypto risk is even harder.
