Trump (but celebs in general) are looking for ways to monetize their name/ brand/ good will. This can be done with ads, being an „influencer“, etc but in the new world that’s coins. Trump is the final boss in that category and I am pretty sure that timing, risks etc don’t matter. Anything that could help win the election is good. And if there’s money involved on top (that he will also funnel into his pockets) than that’s perfect. 

Imo the question for him is „why not“, not „why“ and there aren’t a lot of cons in his world.

Trump is selling in the beginning. He doesn’t need to reinvest, that is profit for him. This is different to ICOs etc. the coin could go to 0, he would still be making money.

This is what you're missing in your analysis,  coins as you called it is a high risk asset,  90% of coins are heading towards zero, plenty will lose their money and only few will profit.

Can you name a celeb that launched a coin and it's still alive in the market???

When ppl lose money they start pointing fingers, no one wants to be at the end of those hands
