The risk vs return of solo staking doesn't make much sense today. With the liquidity advantages and less technical risk - one is generally better off buying an LST . As a result the relative proportion are already falling. This is really harmful for network health and decentralisation. /1

One thing we can do is encourage those solo-stakers with more than a few validators to natively re-stake a small proportion with EigenLayer: EL boosted staking rewards are going to far out compete pure beacon chain rewards in the near future. /2

My gut feeling is that we have several segments within solo-stakers. These different segments need different solutions to compensate for the perceived loss. From EL to airdrops to borrowing to XYZ there’s a lot we can do to make solo stakers competitive.

Agree - boosted validator rewards needs to become a real focus. Where are all the airdrops? That aside, the raw economics still need to make some sense. A significant advantage of solo staking is nimbleness and flexibility when it comes to trying new things.

$STRK should drop in Feb. Let’s hope they set an example.
