It’s a step towards solving the trust problem for new devs entering the Farcaster. 

I agree that y’all have a demonstrated history of doing mostly right by developers but

If i joined Farcaster today bc I like the idea of decentralized/permissionless social and it was called Farcaster and the only way i can find anything dev doc/protocol related is through the main client app or Farcaster client site pages and then see that the majority of activity in the github discussions is from the main entity payroll devs I can’t help but assume that it’s a majority client focused protocol and that’s how it will stay. 

If I see actions, brand + site separation, and money go towards explicitly defining the protocol as separate it is much closer to passing my gut check of “is this really something separate from the VC funded behemoth that is a potential boot on my neck?”

I think the ATP website accomplishes this in a way consistent to how devs think about approaching new ecosystems

I’d be surprised if there’s a sizable number of founders who decided against building on Farcaster primarily because of trust concerns. 

Some, sure. A lot, unlikely. 

So it wouldn’t be at the top of my priority list if I were benevolent dictator for a day.

Also agree (tho we’re still pretty early with sample sizes) but I’d point out that devs hacking and founders founding are actually very different archetypes

True. 

Devs hacking are more likely to help retain users via entertaining projects, not bring users.

If I’m benevolent dictator, I’d be comfortable trading off 10 devs for 100 “normie” users - for example.

Harsh, but it’s impossible to please everyone and it’s only going to get harder as we go deeper into the web3 <> normie culture clash we’re in the early innings of.
