Big web3 assumption going around I'm not seeing questioned: users care to be owners. Contrarian: Most users are consumers of <content/product/value> and ownership POTENTIAL in <> won't change their behaviour to web3 from web2 simply because of ownership.

Great discussion in this thread. A few thoughts to add: 1. Our current heuristic of consumer vs creator vs platform is deeply rooted in web2 operating model assumptions. As web3 rewrites those assumptions, it will have the potential to rewrite the user profile.

I’m currently of the opinion those personas will converge in web3, and users will all end up somewhere on a spectrum of creating/consuming, though not in our currently understood definition of a “creator”.

2. It won’t happen *solely* because of ownership, but having that lever allows brands to engage and incentivize user behavior in a way they simply cannot without ownership. There will be some *power users* who make a living off this sort of engagement, but for most people it will simply deepen loyalty and stickiness.

There’s already a lot of research showing the efficacy of loyalty rewards programs, and brand investment in them is only increasing. And that’s with a web2 tech stack and incentives structure which is limited without *ownership*

I like this thread you’re pulling on: we have content creators and content consumers today. I predict we’ll have a middle “consumer+” layer, the equivalent of creator gig workers who profit financially and opportunistically by distributing content (value)- like gig workers distribute food, rides etc.
