Year 2 of the Farcon Scholarship Program DC me if interested. 1. $100.00 for pitchdeck review + live pitch feedback. 2. Max 5. 3. 100% ($500) goes to Farcon Scholarships stewarded by /purple, the OG Farcaster community DAO.

I love the idea of sponsoring trips to Farcon, but I would *never* pay anyone for pitch deck feedback or pitch review. IMO that’s something that should be done out of good faith, or not at all.

So don't do it?

Correct. I would *much* rather give $100 to Purple no questions asked without a VC in the middle trying to source deals from it.

So do that. My fund doesn't invest in web3, so…..

Ok, I will - @ccarella plz send me the Purple address so I can contribute $100 for Farcon scholarships :) Ben, regardless of your fund’s thesis, you should know it’s bad practice to charge for pitch review. Easiest way to get on a founder’s blacklist. Instead, separate the actions; you can offer free pitch review *and also* give money to support Purple. Just do that separately and avoid the confusion. I shouldn’t need to send you money and trust that it gets forwarded to Purple. I can do that myself, and I will.

1. Yes I agree, accepting money from a founder looking to pitch me as a potential investor, would be 100% inappropriate and unethical. 2. Offering my time/experience in exchange for a donation to a good cause is entirely appropriate. 3. I said nothing about accepting any cash myself.

Why should someone send you money (and trust that you’ll forward it to Purple) when they can send it to Purple themselves?

See #3, they shouldn't and they wouldn't. Good clarification though. The donation goes direct to purple.

Ok… so then I’m not sure why someone would need/want to pitch you in order to donate to Purple. Seems unnecessary for the founder and unnecessary for Purple. But definitely seems necessary for you given that your job is to review pitches all day! Misaligned incentives IMO
