Ukraine would be flattened by now if there wasn’t intervention from NATO countries, so arguably they did stop russia.

Really? Think again if Russia wants they'll take over within 24 hrs. They have undisputed Hypersonic missiles which can not be traced by any anti-missile system.

From 1st day, they wanted Donbask region (which they occupied on 1st day and NATO couldn't stop that), they just attacking other regions to make buffer zones

I don't know, it's same like, Israel is doing. First capturing some areas then  making rest of areas as buffer zones.

The same tactic used by China too.

For example:- someone captured 10% of your land then claim another 20%, so you'll waste your time in defending those 20% and you'll not get chance to claim back 10%
