Most Overhyped Promise of Web3:
“Web3 will democratize everything and eliminate middlemen.”
Really?
Sounds utopian, right? The pitch is: "Power to the people! DAOs will run like digital co-ops, creators will keep all the value, and middlemen are dead."
The undiluted Truth is that
Web3 is replacing middlemen, not eliminating them.
And often, it's just swapping familiar ones (banks, platforms) with protocol insiders, VCs, or devs with god keys.
Funny enough, DAOs often have voter apathy. Power concentrates in whales or core teams. Protocols say they're trustless, but multisigs and admin controls still dominate. So Web3 doesn’t automatically mean "fair." It just gives us the tools to build fairer systems if we actually use them that way. 0 reply
