ty for the great writeup @katiewav very much in agreement with it for me, the excitement isn't for the current state of things, but the potential state of things. will take considerable time and effort on the brand+consumer side I have long-term concerns, particularly as it relates to privacy/psychographic analysis

I built games on top of FB's open graph back when it launched in 2010/2011 before they realized how badly it would be abused (Zynga) also built on top of Twitter when they allowed access to the "firehose" access to this level of user behavioral/connection data tied to an identity is insanely powerful & ripe for abuse

for all its faults, a closed social graph at least has a single gatekeeper to your data to rein in abuse. In an open graph, who is responsible for - or even has the ability to do - that? As a user, how do I protect my graph from brands who have my FID and would use it to analyze my data and manipulate my behavior?
