One of the reasons why I really love the United Kingdom is the intentionality that drives some of her core institutions. One of such institutions where I work is Education. There, you will find a level of detailed intentionality that will put your mind at ease. It starts from the five British values which they teach every child and make sure it is shown at every available board. But that one is a post for another day. The main part I want to hone is their intentionality in making sure no child is left behind. The schools make sure they put out a budget that guarantees the safety of the children and makes sure that each child gets the help they need. You could see the children being assigned dedicated Teaching Assistants, Speech therapists, Art Therapist, Psychologists, social workers and more. The children are closely monitored to guarantee their wellbeing while the professionals work in tandem to make sure their strategies are constantly reviewed for better results.

Though all these sometimes takes a huge toll on the mental health of the professionals, you can see their enthusiasm to work, their passion for seeking out better strategies, and unbridled joy when they are able to rescue a child from the brink and make them become better versions of themselves. All these remind me of the parable of the parable Jesus gave. In the parable, the shepherd had a 100 sheep and one got lost. After securing the remaining 99, the shepherd went to look for the lost sheep because of how valuable it was to him. There is a premium value for children in the United Kingdom and I think it is very admirable. Staff are always taking courses and refreshers on key policies like safeguarding to ensure the students are safe and do not fall through the cracks. This is the way to build a society that is safe.
