now if you take a field in the world today that relies heavily on memorization - pretty sure it hasn't got long to live 

and you can also tell that those are purely made up, hard or impossible to question... do you get where I'm going?

it's laws in countries, religion etc. 

lawyers, judges have to memorize things that make no sense, out of context, from a different time and all of those things combined waste significant portion of pretty much every human's time and whole lives in addition

one thing from today led my mind to expand on understand vs memorize concept:

I hate memorizing since childhood and don't remember anything of what I did memorize pretty much as there was no understanding involved, pure waste of memory
