I guess I started an accidental AMA on which parts of the crypto space are good and which I'm so far not excited about, along with other big picture vision questions: https://x.com/VitalikButerin/status/1827583576751181961 You should feel free to ask questions here too! Let's see if Farcaster can come up with higher-quality questions than the other app :)

“don’t sacrifice on the principles” but farcaster and base are not yet decentralized, and that’s why they’re so good right now I think there’s no other way you can build something as impactful and useful as that telegram probably would’ve never had a success it’s having if it was a decentralized open source app with no clear leadership and eventually, any app can just decentralize by choice right so I really don’t get it when this industry is pushing for decentralized solutions when there’s no working solution in the first place

Farcaster is quite decentralized, as I understand? I can read/write casts with an alt client, I can set my recovery address to be my safe multisig and that's directly enforced on chain, anti-DoS is done with on-chain costs, etc etc.

technically yes but in reality over 99% of usage is concentrated comes from one centralized client right now and users won’t ever switch to an alt client solely for decentralization reasons unless they’re forced to, for example, in case warpcast team gets arrested like durov just was and app gets shut down globally also all of it is abstracted to the user, unless you’re really advanced and researched it don’t think we’d be here right now if they didn’t build warpcast the way they did it in the end its about people using the tech right and without this product led growth approach don’t think crypto will ever get wide/meaningful adoption

+ warpcast team is the one controlling the development / deciding on features for the whole protocol to have I think

I don't see myself switching to an alt client, even if something happens. Decentralisation has to be compromised at one point or the other
