had dinner with friends in a little town in the mountains. Ate outside, drank wine. Laughed a lot, especially hit it off with one person I met for the first time. We all spent a few hours after dinner in the living room of this old, beautiful house outside Williamstown talking. None of our interactions were monetized though, I didnβt earn a penny from any of the engagement I got (my laughter per joke rate was high, but rate-of-return per laugh was 0) Profit motive is so powerful, but itβs also so pathetically weak compared to the feeling you get from hanging out, breaking bread
