One of the best pieces of advice I can give is that you should never fully divest from this space - that is, you should always leave some cash in to have some skin in the game

You'll pay far more attention and be way more involved vs. if you ever fully cash out

Can confirm. I was forced to fully cash out to repair my car a few years ago and getting back in can be especially tough. 

Not even to mention the missed opportunities
