I thought maybe this time… But Cupid missed, and the arrow fell. A hollow room filled with echoes of could-have-beens. Silence louder than… But no, there's no one to share it with. Just me, and this ache that never asks permission. Shadows stretch long in the absence of someone who never arrives. I reach for connection, but all I grasp is the fading warmth of my own hand. Alone. More alone. More and more, each time alone. A heartbeat slowing in the quiet, waiting for nothing at all.

We say loneliness and constant loneliness. We say we cannot love. Maybe we are angry with ourselves. Why is our heart like this? Why is our heart not more enthusiastic, cannot experience some emotions? Maybe we are overlooking this. The more we chase after something, the further away that thing gets, the more it escapes from us. Have we ever waited? Have we ever waited for happiness to find us, for love and affection to find us, lying in our warm bed?

Perhaps we've forgotten that love is not something we chase but something we carry, quietly, within. It doesn't flee, nor does it demand to be found. It waits, patient as the dawn. We say we are lonely, but maybe we've only locked the door from the inside, believing love to be something distant. What if love has always been here, in the rhythm of our breath, in the softness of our gaze? Sometimes, the heart whispers, and we must learn to listen. To trust that we are enough. To open ourselves, not to seek, but to reveal.
