The first real-world transaction using Bitcoin occurred on May 22, 2010, when a programmer named Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 Bitcoins for two pizzas from Papa John’s. This day is now celebrated annually in the cryptocurrency community as "Bitcoin Pizza Day." At the time, the 10,000 Bitcoins were worth about $41. As of today, those 10,000 Bitcoins would be worth hundreds of millions of dollars, illustrating the dramatic increase in Bitcoin's value over the years.
