SEC Rejects Ripple's Argument for Lower Penalty

   The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has criticized Ripple Labs' latest argument for a lower penalty, saying it wouldn't be enough. The SEC argued that its $4.5 billion settlement with Terraform Labs, which included a $420 million civil penalty, was made due to Terraform's bankruptcy and agreement to return money to investors.  The SEC proposed penalties for Ripple totaling nearly $2 billion, which includes $198.2 million in prejudgment interest and another $1.7 billion in disgorgement
