The field of psychology was founded by Wilhelm Wundt, a German philosopher and physiologist, in 1879. He established the first formal laboratory of psychology at the University of Leipzig, Germany, which is widely considered the birthplace of modern psychology. Wundt's work focused on understanding conscious experience through systematic observation, experimentation, and measurement. He's often referred to as the "father of modern psychology."
